Harwood is a small town in the north of Bolton which once was part of the district of Turton. There are a few shops including a Morrison's Supermarket and petrol station. Harwood’s neighbouring towns and villages include Bradshaw, Bromley Cross, Breightmet , Affetside and Bury.
Bradshaw sits between Bromley Cross and Harwood and became part of the Turton area during the 19th century. The 19th century saw Bradshaw taking an active role in politics by being involved with the administration of funding of The Poor Law in the surrounding area and taking part in local council planning. Harwood and Bromley Cross provide the majority of shops and pubs in the area.
