Brandlesholme is part of Bury lying close to Summerseat, Woodhill, Holcombe Brook, Tottington, and Greenmount. The name Brandlesholme originated from the name of the early landowners who were called Brandulf. Later The Greenhaulgh family came into possession of the Manor of Brandlesholme and remained prominent up until the 18th century.
Parts of derelict industrial land in the area have been transformed into Burrs Country Park which is popular with locals. The park attracts water sports such as canoeing, and is popular with families who visit its children’s areas. There are also refreshments available at the park’s pub. The East Lancashire Railway runs alongside Burrs Country Park. The local shops are known as the ‘Top Shops’ and there as a Tesco supermarket.
