The Beauty Lounge is professional in it’s approach to treatments and before I visited I was given a comprehensive list of simple preparations to ensure a flawless and even tan.
- Waxing or shaving should be completed at least 24 hours prior to the treatment.
- The evening before treatment exfoliate your entire body paying special attention to the dryer parts of the body such hands, elbows, knees & feet.
- You should not wear perfume, deodorant or moisturiser on the day of the treatment
- You should attend in dark, loose fitting clothing and flip flops to allow the tan to develop fully.
As I had never had a St Tropez tan prior to my visit to the Beauty Lounge I felt a little apprehensive, my nerves soon disappeared after the warm, friendly welcome by Catherine who asked me to complete a short questionnaire and led me to a private treatment room were I received a short but detailed explanation of the treatment I would be receiving, I was then left to undress and put on the paper thong and robe which was provided
Catherine then applied moisturiser to the dryer areas, knees, elbows and hands and feet. I then stood inside a tanning booth were the tan was applied by way of a special spray tanning system. A fine mist of tanning solution was applied over my body, there was no unpleasant feelings other than it felt a little cold on my stomach.
One application will give the skin a healthy looking glow, which can be sufficient for some people, however as I normally tan quite deeply a second coat was applied, apart from my hands and feet. Through the full length mirror provided I could already see the tan, which Catherine explained would develop fully over the next 12 hours, There was no streaking and I didn’t turn orange, which had been one of my fears before my visit.
After the treatment, which lasted about 20 minutes I was advised to leave the solution to dry until I felt comfortable which, for me was a further 5 minutes.
Before I slipped back into my clothes Catherine explained that I should refrain from showering or bathing for a minimum of four hours and not to undertake any activity which would cause perspiration for next 12 hours, she also said that, for best results I should not shower until the next morning.
In the comfortable reception area I received my tan maintenance tips which will , with the correct after care, ensure my tan would last up to 7 to 10 days. I was provided with St Tropez body moisturiser, to be applied daily after bathing. The body polisher, which was also provided, was to be applied after 3 days to ensure the tan fades evenly. I was advised to pat, rather than rub the skin after bathing.
I am pleased with the final result and, writing this review 5 days after the treatment I still have a healthy tan. I would definitely pay another visit to the Beauty Lounge to top up my tan, before my holidays and important events.
