Colonic cleansing has been around for a long time. In fact it goes as far back as the Egyptians who have been practising this technique for centuries. The aim of using colonic cleansing is to clean the colon using purified filtered water. Angela Close of The Beauty Lounge is a qualified colonic hydrotherapist.
The purpose of having a colonic irrigation is to cleanse the colon of waste material, especially if it has remained in the colon for some time, for example impacted faeces, dead cellular tissue, accumulated mucous, parasites and worms. This material is toxic and poisonous and can make us feel tired and ill. Impacted material can hinder the absorption of vitamins and minerals. A build up of material will inhibit muscular action in the colon resulting in sluggish bowel movements, constipation etc. Common signs of a build up of impacted material are headaches, back aches, constipation, fatigue, bad breath, body odour, irritability, skin problems, bloating, diarrhoea and so on.
The Beauty Lounge offers a colonic treatment referred to as a closed system. This is a state of the art piece of equipment using highly filtered water that passes through 3 separate filters before being heated to the correct temperature.
I visited The Beauty Lounge and before the treatment started, I was asked to fill in a medical history form. Angela then discussed my medical history to make sure I was suitable for treatment. I was shown to the treatment room which was very comfortable and private, and away from other treatment areas in the salon. I was given a gown to wear which I wore for the whole of the treatment to keep me covered. Angela then gave me a full explanation of how the equipment being used worked.
There were a lot of safety features on the machinery being used such as temperature control of the water, and a pressure gauge which cuts off at 100 millibars, opening the bowels exerts 200 millibars of pressure; so it is very safe.
Throughout the treatment, I felt relaxed and at ease. I chatted with Angela about the stages of the treatment and the benefits of Colonic Hydrotherapy. Through the viewing window she explained she was checking for undigested food, parasites, worms and Candida Ablicans (yeast).
I experienced no pain; at worst I had the occasional mild grip as I felt my colon contracting. I couldn’t feel the water going in as it travelled slowly and gently and was at kept at body temperature. Angela told me that approximately 15 gallons of water are used during one treatment as the colon is emptied and filled numerous times to soften and remove waste which sticks in the small dimples inside. Massage techniques are also used to encourage the movement of impacted material. In total the treatment took around an hour to complete.
After the colonic treatment, I felt less bloated and more energetic over the next couple of days. It is a treatment I would consider having again. The Beauty Lounge is based in a spectacular Georgian property with many original features but with a contemporary feel. Angela is very professional in her work and makes what could be an embarrassing experience relaxing and comfortable.
We spend a lot of time making sure we look good on the outside, but often neglect the inside. I did feel a lot better after my treatment and knowing I had got rid of the build up of toxins in my body encouraged me to eat more healthily. I also realised by talking to Angela how dehydrated my body is and how I really should drink a lot more fluids and not just coffee.
Sometimes a few treatments close together are recommended. Following a colonic treatment a client will experience many of the positive benefits of the therapy including a feeling of wellness, clearer sharper vision, flatter abdomen, reduced bloating, increase in mental agility, better quality of sleep and the skin will be able to breathe.
